INTRODUCTION

The Nadi Town Council (‘Council’) Legal Office reports directly to the Office of the Chief Executive Officer and comprises of the Legal Officer. The fundamental function of the Legal Office is to provide legal services to the Council.

VISION

To serve as an esteemed legal advisor of the Council, upholding integrity and providing exceptional legal services that safeguard the Council’s best interests.

MISSION

To provide proficient legal guidance and representation to the Council, guided by integrity, expertise, and a commitment to serving the Council’s best interests. The Legal Office endeavours to provide optimum legal solutions for the Council, ensuring that the Council’s legal needs are addressed efficiently and effectively.

The Legal Office is responsible for providing various legal services to the Council, including but not limited to the following:

  1. legal representation in courts and tribunals;
  2. provision of legal advice and guidance;
  3. recovery of debts from Council debtors through necessary legal actions;
  4. drafting of contracts, notices and other legal documents;
  5. legislative review; and
  6. enforcement of legislative provisions under the laws of Fiji which are within the scope of responsibility of the Council.
